Body electronics follow BMW's front-drive cars: the F56 uses the same body domain controller (BDC) part as the 2 Series Active Tourer, the Countryman and the Clubman, so one module fault again reads as a cluster of unrelated symptoms.
A replacement BDC is not plug-and-play. MINI's own service action for 2023–2024 cars replaces the BDC and then runs a full software update, letting ISTA reprogram and code every module that is not on the latest software.
From a documented source: BMW parts catalog (BDC applications); MINI SIM 61 03 24 (BDC).
Modules that fail on this one
- BDC (body domain controller)The FEM's successor — body functions, access, immobilizer and gateway in one domain module, from the 2014 X5 and BMW/Mini front-drive cars to the G-series.
Work this generation comes in for
- Diagnostics & Electrical TroubleshootingComplex, intermittent and non-standard faults in electronic systems and the digital data buses (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, MOST), and in the wiring itself: parasitic drains, water damage, chewed or brittle harnesses.
- ECU Programming & CodingProgramming, resetting, pairing and recoding control units of any complexity: powertrain, transmission, comfort modules, body electronics and multimedia.
- Control Unit Replacement & AdaptationFull-cycle adaptation and synchronization of both new and used control units, component protection removal, and configuration to the specific car.
- Retrofits & Feature ActivationRetrofitting genuine options and factory equipment, and activating hidden features, navigation and multimedia systems.
